This is one of the strangest videos I’ve ever seen. One of the women from the Westboro Baptist Church (you know, the “God Hates Fags” folks) is chatting rather cordially with a fabulously, openly gay man. Apparently he’s been round their place for dinner on a few occasions and they have a really great time together. For a moment she seems almost like somebody’s mom.
Don’t get me wrong, the things the WBC does do are pretty monstrous. But it’s kind of confronting to experience the church as individuals who maybe aren’t as bad as the things that they say and do.
